For those who love wine, nature, and Italian rural tradition, there are now two ways to experience wine at the Podere: a simple Tasting or the more complete Tasting Experience, which includes a visit to the vineyard and cellar. In this article we explain the differences and why to choose one or the other depending on what you’re looking for.

Tasting: the essential experience

The Tasting is designed for those who want to focus on the Terre di Marfisa wines, through a guided tasting of the estate’s whites, rosés and reds. You can choose between three options:

  • Basic Tasting – €20
3 glasses of your choice, homemade bread and oil.
  • Intermediate Tasting – €30
3 glasses paired with tastings from the Osteria Unicorno kitchen.
  • Full Tasting – €40
4 selected glasses with a board of local cured meats and cheeses, and bruschetta with Terre di Marfisa’s own oil

Every glass tells the elements that characterise the Farnese territory: the tuff stone, the wind, the sun exposure. You don’t need to know about wine to enjoy the tasting. What matters is letting yourself be guided.

Tasting Experience: beyond the glass

If instead you want to understand where the wine you’re drinking comes from, the Tasting Experience is the right choice.
It starts with a walk among the vines, continues in the cellar, and ends with a wine tasting in the tasting room or outdoors, depending on the season.

The key points of the experience:

  • Guided vineyard visit
An explanation of the land, the grape varieties grown, and sustainable management.
  • Cellar visit and historical notes
An account of winemaking, ageing and bottling techniques … and a dive into the history of the family and the land, from the Etruscans to the Renaissance
  • Final tasting of 4 glasses
With a rich board and dishes from the Osteria Unicorno, accompanied by advice and suggestions from the staff

Price Tasting Experience – €50

The experience lasts approximately from 90 to 120 minutes, depending on ground conditions, and is always available on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with different times in summer and winter.

Booking required, preferably by phone.

We’re almost ready to open online booking.

Why choose the Tasting Experience?

  • To experience wine from the producer’s point of view
  • To understand the connection between land and grape variety
  • To immerse yourself in the Tuscia countryside, not just look at it
  • To do something different, hands-on and immersive

It’s perfect for the curious, for those who love to tell stories, for those looking for something beyond just tasting.

Where the experience takes place

The experience unfolds entirely within the Terre di Marfisa estate, in the hilly area of Farnese. The vine rows are just a few metres from the main building, as is the cellar, modern yet perfectly integrated into the landscape.

The tasting takes place in the panoramic room or outdoors, depending on the weather. The setting is informal but well cared for, perfect for couples or small groups too.

A journey through wine… from the Etruscans to the Renaissance

During the visit, guests also hear the history of the land and of the family, who have carefully farmed these lands for years. It starts with the landscape and Etruscan culture, moves through Renaissance history, and arrives at the present, with respectful, quality-focused farming.

How to pair it

The Tasting Experience pairs easily with:

  • Lunch or dinner at our restaurant
  • A relaxing stay between spa and nature
  • A visit to Vulci Park or Lake Bolsena

Book your spot and choose the experience that’s right for you.
