January, here at Podere di Marfisa, is only a quiet month in appearance. The resort is closed to guests, but the work goes on. It’s the time when the countryside slows down, the vines rest, and we too take the time we need to tidy up, improve and prepare everything ahead of the reopening on 14 February.

During January we focus on everything that’s invisible but makes the difference once guests arrive. It’s the time when we work on the vineyards, check the cellar, go over the common areas and the rooms, and carry out maintenance on the spa.

It’s also the time when we plan for the season ahead: the tasting experiences, how to organise them, and the best way to welcome those who choose to stay with us during the quieter months.

This time of preparation is an integral part of how we work. It allows us to keep our hospitality attentive, without improvisation.

Why we chose 14 February to reopen

The reopening on 14 February marks an important step. February is often seen as an ‘in-between’ month, but for us it’s one of the best times to experience the Podere. There’s tranquillity, the landscape is clean, the air is clear, and the pace is just right for those seeking a real break.

Reopening at this point means welcoming those who prefer to travel off-season and experience the Tuscia in a more genuine way.

What you’ll find at Podere di Marfisa from the reopening

From 14 February, all the experiences that are part of life at the Podere return. The Terre di Marfisa wine tastings are available again, with different options designed for different needs.

For those who simply want to taste, we offer the classic tastings. For those who want to really understand our work, you can choose the Tasting Experience, which includes a walk through the vineyard, a visit to the cellar and a guided tasting.

It’s an experience that tells the story of the land, our history and the way we make wine.

The restaurant: seasonal cooking and an intimate atmosphere

With the reopening of the resort, the restaurant reopens too. The kitchen follows the seasons and, in February, offers warm, hearty dishes designed to accompany the end of winter.

During this period the menu is built around:

  • warm soups and first courses
  • seasonal vegetables and legumes
  • meats prepared with slow cooking
  • simple desserts, tied to the season

Eating here in February means taking the time to sit at the table, in a calm setting, without background noise or a forced pace.

Spa and wellness: February is the right time

From 14 February our wellness area will also be accessible again. In the winter months, the spa plays a central role in the experience.

The heated pool, sauna and Turkish bath are designed to help you relax after a walk in the countryside or a day spent exploring the area. For those seeking more privacy, the Spa Suite remains available, with a private hot tub.

February is one of the most popular times for wellness, precisely because it invites you to slow down.

February in the Tuscia: a time to experience unhurried

Podere di Marfisa is located in Farnese, in the heart of the Viterbo Tuscia. At this time of year, the area shows its most authentic side.

Nearby you can:

  • visit the villages without the crowds
  • explore Vulci Park and the Etruscan sites
  • reach Lake Bolsena for a walk along the lakefront
  • walk through the woods of the Selva del Lamone

All at a slower pace, far from the busier seasons.

Who we recommend visiting after the reopening

February is the ideal month for those seeking tranquillity, for couples who want to treat themselves to a different kind of weekend, for those who love wine and guided tastings, and for those who prefer to travel off-season.

It’s less suited to those looking for events or entertainment, but perfect for those who consciously choose silence and landscape.

Bookings and reopening

Podere di Marfisa officially reopens on 14 February.
Bookings for stays, tastings, tasting experiences and the spa are already open. The first weekends after the reopening tend to be in high demand, so we recommend booking a little in advance.
